Day 27 - Rest Day in Memphis, Tennessee
I had a nice, relaxing day of rest and sightseeing today in Memphis. This city has a lot of historical landmarks and there are a lot of things to see and do in and near downtown Memphis. I toured Graceland and the other Elvis Presley tourist attractions and the Stax Soul Music Museum and historic recording studio. Both were very entertaining and brought me back to the music of my early childhood. I also spent time walking around beautiful downtown Memphis. The cab driver who gave me a ride back from the Stax Museum was a proud, lifelong resident of Memphis and he gave me a free tour of the sights around his hometown, including the site of the Martin Luther King assassination. I would love to stay for an extra day and do more things in this interesting city, but I think it is time to hit the road again!
