Day 2 -- Walker to Nisswa - 61 Miles

Did 61 gorgeous miles and took one refreshing swim stop today on the Paul Bunyan and Great Heartland Trails. Camping at a beautiful campsite in Nisswa overlooking Lake Edna, one of the many pretty Minnesota lakes I saw today.

The Paul Bunyan Trail is paved and cuts north - south through gorgeous, deep forest. I did a slight detour today to go through the "Minnesota Pyrennes," a 10 mile segment of the trail that is a winding trail up and down a long series of gorgeous, heavily wooded hills south of Walker that is part of the Great Heartland Trail. The Paul Bunyan Trail is a converted rail bed, so it is quite flat; but this section was not part of the railway.

I ran into a couple from Ohio who were staying at a motel in Walker and doing day rides on the Paul Bunyan and Great Heartland trails this week. Other than that, I saw almost no one on the trails all day.
