Day 3 - Nisswa to Little Falls - 54 Miles

Only did 54 miles today. Final 15 miles of the Paul Bunyan Trail were great (albeit a bit more crowded on this Saturday between the large Minnesota summer resort towns of Nisswa and Brainerd); but then had to do about 20 miles on state highway 371 with a strong crosswind -- not so great. Stopped at a bar to have lunch and watch the Wolverines in the season opener before continuing on to the campground at beautiful Charles Lindbergh State Park.

Charles Lindbergh's boyhood home (pictured above) is just across the road from the State Park and is now a museum. The River runs directly behind his house. Up here it is not very wide or big. It looks just like scores of other beautiful rivers here in the Upper Midwest. It is extremely clear and clean up here and has not picked up the brown, muddy appearance that it takes on further to the south. It flows right through the nice little downtown area of Little Falls and in the daylight it had a sparkling blue color.
